We launch our first ever flagship store on Darley Rd, Manly. After a series of pop ups, we’re stoked to have our first retail store in our home town! Milly Mac who still leads our retail experience today joins the Smuggling fam.
By 2018 we’d made our debut at Pop Up events in France and the brand was starting to get a foothold in the Northern Hemisphere.
We kick off our first London Pop Up at Old Street Station. Jimmy Exelby and Jack Burton jump on board and make up our core crew to launch Budgy in the UK.

Covid continues to wreak havoc around the world and Face Masks become our number one best seller. The Smuggling community continues to back us and helps us to get through a challenging time.
We open our second retail store at a faraway beach called Bondi.
Nedd Brockmann arrives in Bondi Beach after running across the width of the country in 46 days. Budgy Smuggler was the first to put in cash to sponsor Nedd and his run and it became an inspirational moment for the nation about what the mind and body can achieve.
We make the leap to our new home on Manly’s Corso and develop the floating wall of arses. You’re welcome!
We launch our first online store in Europe and open an office in Bordeaux. The team is led by former intern in Australia (Gibbo) and the winner of France's Most Ordinary Rig (Nicolas).
We forget to arrange La Poste to collect the orders on Day 1 so we have to trolley nearly 1 tonne of swimwear to the post office across the opening week and manually send each order :)

We search the globe for the World’s Most Ordinary Rigs and fly them all to Sydney to compete for the prize of a Budgy Smuggler modelling contract, $10k cash and the title of ‘World’s Most Ordinary Rig’. Nikolasa Lilo takes home the chocolates.

We remain a family owned business and still manufacture every pair of Budgy Smugglers here in Sydney, Australia. Our HQ is now based up the road in Brookvale and the dream is to do well enough to install a rooftop pool for the team by 2028. When it comes to product testing… you can count on us!
