BUDGY FILES: XANTHEIA PENNISI

Meet Xantheia Pennisi, aka Xan. Red Bull Cliff Diver, world traveller and one of our long-time Budgy Smuggler legends. From diving off cliffs around the world to recently designing her third range with Budgy, Xan has been taking smuggling to new heights for years. 

 We caught up with her to chat about life as a professional cliff diver, the inspo behind her new design and some of her favourite smuggling memories.

First up, tell us a little about yourself and what you do?

I'm a Red Bull Cliff Diver! I travel around the world diving off 21-metre platforms, cliffs, bridges, buildings, anything that's high and safe enough! I also love making travel content and sharing it online. And if I wasn't a cliff diver, I'd still find a job where I could be in my Budgy Smugglers all day long.

What's a normal day look like for you? Where's the office?

When I'm home in Brisbane, I'm at the diving pool and gym every day, which can get pretty repetitive. But then I get to travel quite a bit for competitions, so my office is always somewhere new with some pretty amazing views. Italy, Bosnia, America, not a bad gig! 

You've just designed your very own Budgys! Talk us through the inspo.

I wanted a suit that made me feel cute and confident. I also hadn't seen anyone wearing a yellow suit, and I LOVE yellow, so I knew I needed to make one. I wanted the X's all over as a little nod to my name too! 

Besides your own, what's your all-time favourite Budgy print?

The pink and red Chilli's have been a long-time favourite of mine!

What's your favourite smuggling memory?

Definitely me and my fiancé wearing matching Budgy Smugglers in the Rotorua hot springs. The sulfur made our Budgys stink, but I didn't want to throw them away because they were my favourites! 

What's the last photo you took?

My mum holding my new trophy!

What are you currently watching or listening to?

I'm watching Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story. It's so creepy, but I love a psychological thriller or true crime!
